Ice Bucket Challenge! – And what IS ALS even?

I’m sure you’ve all seen those Ice Bucket Challenges on facebook during the past few days. And I’m sure that, just like me, you have no idea why people were actually doing it. Or well, maybe – to raise money for this “ALS” thing, right?

But what is ALS? If you’re only going to watch one more ice bucket challenge video, let it be this one. It starts of funny but just watch the entire thing, please.

If you have anything to spare, please do. If you don’t, please share on Twitter, facebook, IG, Tumblr and your blog. If it were your friends or family in this situation, you’d wish people would do the same for you.

Take those 10 minutes to help make a difference! THANK YOU, my peeps!

The Flu and The Wedding

Once again I managed to go an entire week without posting. It’s not because I don’t like you guys, really, but I’ve just been at that stage of sick where you’re not really 100% sick, but still feel sick enough for you to be unable to do anything productive. I’ve missed 2 days of school this week and I HATE myself for not being able to go today because we were supposed to make to different types of pancakes, vanilla parfait, and lamb with dill sauce, shrimps and potatoes! That’s sounds more or less like Heaven to me!

Instead, I get to sit at home and be sick. Woho. “At least” I get to spend the evening alone without my son and boyfriend. I was actually looking forward to that a little (because it made it possible for me to geek out to various TV shows) but now I really don’t feel it anymore.

Tomorrow we’re supposed to babysit… how unpractical is that? But they reeaaaally deserve a baby-free night and their kid is SO quiet and easy, it won’t be a problem at all.

And next Saturday we’re getting married, but it’s a super informal wedding (I seriously considered if showing up in jogging pants would be okay) with just some coffee and cake and hopefully good weather since we’re getting wed outside!

None of use are very romantic like that so it’s just to have a nice day and “get it over with” since we’re not and won’t ever be saving up for a huge wedding with the big, white dress, church, etc. so there’s really no point in waiting, we decided 😉

What have you guys been up to? (:

A long week

That’s exactly what this week has been.

Monday started pretty okay. 4 classes and that was it. We were in line to get on the bus when a girl throws up in the bus, runs outside and continues throwing up. We decide to stay and help (I didn’t exactly plan on wiping vomit out of somebody else’s hair but I felt SO bad for her because everyone in the bus was starring and she was clearly uncomfortable – and let’s face it, as a mother I’ve done MUCH worse things that wiping a strand of hair free off vomit) which meant the bus drove off.

Fair enough, we’d just take the next one from the other bus stop, right? Well, the second we start walking it starts PISSING down and when we finally make it into the (20 min late) bus, we’re soaked.

Tuesday I was 5 fucking minutes late for kitchen internship (which I’m SO sure it the right term in English…) because my bus was late. Wednesday I was sick as fuck but because we only have 25 lessons of sick-days and I know I’m going to have migraines again until December, I had to show up. I was wearing my boyfriend’s t-shirt, no makeup (and I look dead as it is, being sick doesn’t help) and just wanted to drop dead. Because we had 8 lessons and I was home at 5.

Thursday. Bus was full, had to wait for another. Great start. Another day with 8 lessons. I brought chocolate to make it easier but it disappeared. No idea what the Hell happened, if someone took it from my bag or what, but it was gone. I was so tired when I got home, I told my boyfriend I’d just lay down for 5 minutes and for him to wake me if I fell asleep.

I went to bed at around 19, woke up at 22.30. Had something to eat and went right back to sleep. THAT exhausted.

Today we had kitchen internship-duty-whatever again, and made veal fricassee and “rødgrød med fløde” – sorry, can’t translate that 😉 It was actually extremely delicious.

Also, can I just point out that when you decide to take the rødgrød with you home and you only have a plastic bag… well, people stare 😛

Shop My Stash review – Manhattan 123 Clear Compact Powder

DSC_0762DSC_0766 DSC_0770I’ve hit pan!

I haven’t forgotten my Shop My Stash callenge – at all, actually! I’ve really been using the things from my LIST as much as possible. This powder actually suits my skin tone (which is “pale dead vampire”) so when I hit pan I hurried to order a few more 😉

I will make a collective how-did-it-go post by the end but until then I’ll be reviewing the products from the list, starting with the powder.

Packaging: The packaging isn’t anything too special. It’s easy too see it’s not high end and reminds me of makeup 13-14-15 y. o. would wear. The quality of the packaging is perfectly fine, sturdy and doesn’t at all feel flimsy and cheap. There’s a little “sponge” in the package but – to me at least – it’s worth nothing so I threw it out straight away.

There’s a new packaging, they changed it a while ago, so mine’s the “old”. The new packaging looks a little better but the product is pretty much the same.

Smell: It doesn’t really smell like anything particular, but it definitely doesn’t smell bad – you don’t notice any smell which is something I like since I’m really picky when it comes to smells.

Consistency: It’s a powder so of course it’s powdery 😉 But it doesn’t end up all over the place and stays on the brush as it should.

Price: If you want to buy the new packaging it costs 69,95 kr in Matas. If you’re good with the old packaging you can get it for 0.99 GBP (!) at FragranceDirect.

Does it work? Yes, it works! I’m very, very pale and have a lot of trouble finding powders and foundations in a working shade – either it’s way too dark or it’s vampire pale. I use the Vanilla (70) in this range and it’s perfect for my skin tone. The powder stays where it should all day, even through sweat (which there is a lot of these days) and it covers nicely without making you look like you’re wearing a 3 cm layer of powder. It does say it’s got anti-bacterial properties but in all fairness I haven’t really thought about it so I haven’t noticed whether it’s made a difference or not.

Rating: 5/5 stars – definitely a favorite of mine!
