Valentine’s Day ideas and 2nd Anniversary!

Everyone is starting too buzz around, preparing for Valentine’s Day (well, some of you are probably last-minute people but that’s okay, too) yet here at home it’s not something we really do. We find it a little weird to celebrate our love once a year, on a day Hallmark decided on. We’re the kind of people who like to buy each other little things and tell each other that we love each other on a more daily-basis kind of thing.

However, we have an anniversary coming up and it’s on March 17th! Which also happens to be St. Patty’s day, but then there’s one less date to remember (and no, I don’t do well at remembering dates… I only remembered after my boyfriend went, “I got a really great gift for you for the anniversary!” and I stood there, “…. crap.”)

Which means I’ve of course found him a few things I think he should have. Some of them I’ve already bought, some of them are still on the idea board since I tend to spend a lot of time finding and putting together the perfect gift.

Here are the top 5 to inspire you (:

For Men Maca Root Energetic Face Protector

Since I signed him up for the 1711BOX – the male version of the Goodiebox – and he really loved the test-size products from the The Body Shop line, I went ahead and bought him this one along with For Men Maca Root Face Scrub , For Men Maca Root Face Wash and For Men Maca Root Shave Cream.

I’m also planning on making him a sort of Love Book. It sounds so cheesy, but check this out:

Chilli & Bubbles Personalized Book of Love

I’m not sure if I want to buy that exact one because I was thinking it would be way more fun to draw it myself because then I can really personalize it. It doesn’t require much more than any blank-paged journal and a few nicely colored pens.

Then of course, there will be candy. Last year I bought a lot of gourmet candy and chocolates and put them in tiny little individual Chinese-style wrappers. He absolutely loved it (he’s a big fan of Asian everything). This year I’m thinking this would be a lot of fun:

SWEET words

This one is also going to be homemade but it’s not about price – on the contrary, I tend to spend a lot of money on good candy – but about the fact that I’m a perfectionist and that candy is a little too everyday for an anniversary.

This one is Doctor Who related since we both LOVE Doctor Who.

Doctor Who Ring I Love Your Stupid Face

He just broke the ring he’s had for many, many years so this one would be perfect. It costs 71 kr so it’s actually even affordable. For all of you who don’t watch Doctor Who, the line is something Amy says to Rory and it’s really romantic – for us 😉

And then… a ninja mug!

Ninja Mug Set

Who wouldn’t love this? The set includes a mug, a mug warmer in the shape of a ninja mask, a spoon shaped like a Katana Samurai sword and a coaster shaped like a throwing-star. Our apartment is full of decorative Katana swords and ninja figures so this would fit right in.

I have many other ideas at the ready but these are some of the ones I know I’m going to use. I think it’s going to be like a gift basket of sorts (I’m a huge fan of gift baskets, I make them for pretty much everyone for any occasion) because it looks so neat and you can get a lot of good stuff instead of just a pair of socks and a watch.

Can you use any of the ideas? What are you planning for your better half for Valentine’s Day?

  • Oh god. Not valentine’s day! I’m so glad that people in Denmark don’t make such a big deal about it as they do in other countries, because it is soooo depressing when you are single…
Anyways – I really loved the Doctor Who ring. I found a new favorite shop on etsy now 😛
My friend loves Doctor Who so I always watch out for present to give to her that is Doctor Who related. I haven’t seen that much of the show yet though 🙂

    • Haha, I HATE Valentine’s day. Single or not, it’s just a weird concept that EVERYONE has to celebrate their love on the exact same day. I’d much rather celebrate our anniversary which actually means something to us.

Oh, and you MUST watch it! Come join the fandom 😉
